Framing the Landscape
Founded in 1999 by Joe Herrin and Mike Mora, Heliotrope has earned recognition for a portfolio of bespoke residential and commercial projects that have made a lasting impact on Seattle, the Northwest, and beyond. Named after the heliotrope flower of myth, which turns toward the sun, we are drawn to the idea that there is an intangible something that defines an exceptional place.
Heliotrope’s work seeks to create lasting resonance through a deep connection to place. Careful attention to detail and craft, combined with a materiality that weathers with intention, imbues each project with an enduring sense of quality and permanence.
This intangible quality begins with a commitment to what is deeply human. It starts with the context of you. What will being here mean? What will being here connect you to? For us, design also carries a responsibility: to do right by the land. We pursue solutions that are low-impact, sustainable, and that improve the sites where they exist. An exceptional place must be rooted in the present and committed to the future. We strive for resonance that endures. Quality that deepens over time. A sense of heritage built in from the beginning.
